While the base layer is wet, add a few lines to create movement in the water. Use a smaller round brush for this step. (I) Let dry completely.

Step 4: Final Details. Add a small island near the horizon line to add depth to the painting. (J)

Add some small coconut palm trees on the island. (K, L) You want it to look like they are really far away, so you don’t need to add a lot of details; just a small rough shape is enough. Vary the heights of the trees to make them look realistic.

Add the reflection of the island to finish the painting. Use a darker tone of Payne’s Grey to add some lines in the water. (M) Leave ample space between them and make them thicker toward the bottom and thinner near the horizon line.
